Spencer Schrader is set to replace the New York Jets as kicker.

Interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said Friday that Schrader will likely be the team's kicker for Sunday's game against Arizona after another positional shift.

Riley Patterson, who made all three of his extra-point attempts in last week's win over Houston, was released after just one game as a replacement for the injured Greg Zuerlin. Patterson played a crucial role in the Jets' 21-13 win over Texas, outpointing Schrader in midweek.

Schrader remains on the practice squad but is expected to be promoted or signed to the active roster ahead of the game against the Cardinals. The Jets also signed former Packers and 49ers kicker Anders Karlsson to the practice squad.

“I was just looking for a live leg,” Ulbrich said. “So I brought in a guy in the NFL who had a live leg that kicked. And I think Spencer Schrader has a live leg.

So it came down to leg strength, and Schrader did a great job today,” he said. “So I think he’ll get the nod on Sunday.”

Schrader signed with Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame in April. He added a three-pointer in the Colts' only NFL game in the season opener against Texas.

Carlson was most recently with San Francisco, where he went 5-of-5 from the field and 3-of-4 from the field in two games as a replacement for injured Jake Moody and Matthew Wright. He was released by the 49ers on Tuesday.

Carlson, a sixth-round pick by Green Bay out of Auburn last year, shot 27-of-33 from the field and 34-of-39 from the field in 17 games as a rookie with the Packers.

Julin has been a consistent and consistent kicker for the Jets over the past two seasons, but he has struggled this year after re-signing with New York for two years in March. He has missed four of seven field goal attempts in his last three games, and has been on the injured list with a strained left leg that has left him unable to kick.

“Z had a career year last year and we all still believe in him,” general manager Joe Douglas said Wednesday. “Obviously (he) struggled with some mechanics and had some adjustments here, so I think this is a good opportunity for him to kind of hit the reset button. And nobody is giving up on having Juhrlein come back and help us win games and win championships.”

In another move, the Jets signed defensive lineman Bruce Hector from the practice squad to the active roster. Hector has recorded three total tackles in one game this season. ​Powerball  Site
